Overcome overwhelm with a better way to lead.
Leading under pressure isn’t something you’re taught in the classroom.
Instead, I learnt it in the cockpit.
As a former RAF combat pilot responsible for leading teams to safety in life-or-death situations, I learnt to navigate the high-risk unpredictability of war zones and humanitarian operations with calm and confidence.
When I hung up my pilot’s wings and began leading large-scale corporate transformations and mergers across diverse global teams, that unique perspective became the foundation of my success as both a colleague and team lead.
Over the years, I’ve worked with small teams and multinational corporations like Australian Retirement Trust, Virgin Australia, Allianz, and Barclays Investment Bank. In every environment, I’ve learnt that the key to being a successful leader lies in cultivating compassion, awareness and adaptability.
I’m not interested in “boot-camp” style leadership. Instead, I take an empathetic and multi-disciplinary approach that is shaped by joy, curiosity and a wide set of interests. My training and coaching are always personalised to meet your unique needs. The goal: create a fun, engaging and supportive environment that empowers you and your team to reach your full potential.
When I say there’s a better way to lead…
These are the core values that shape my own leadership style.
Serve well
The heart of leadership is service to others, and it’s a privilege I take seriously. Serving well means being protective, accountable, selfless and humble. It means that I work to be in tune with those around me and address their needs and concerns. And it means I put relationships first and look after my people.
Think differently
I am curious and open-minded. I find the hidden connections between seemingly unrelated ideas, and I seek out new perspectives and ways of seeing things. Thinking for myself and developing my own ideas and theories allows me to stand out in an overcrowded industry with fresh, practical solutions for leaders who think differently too.
Lead with compassion
I treat people as humans, not operators. I seek to provide a tribe and a place of refuge where everyone feels safe and supported. By creating an environment where empathy guides decision-making, I empower leaders to inspire and uplift their teams through a culture of trust and care.
Choose positivity
I am optimistic, but not blind to challenges. Rather, I look for the best in others and help them fulfil their potential by calling them higher. We choose kindness and encouragement over negativity or criticism. This positive and supportive approach is what gives me and my clients the perspective to meet every challenge with courage, confidence, and enthusiasm.
Keep it real
I am genuine, honest, and transparent. I stay far away from fakery, fluff and bravado, choosing instead to tell real stories from real life that celebrate authenticity and the human experience. This is how I build the trust, respect and openness that are essential to any kind of meaningful growth and change.
Paul provided great real world examples to the team where he had personally experienced situations – this really helped them to reflect on what this meant for their own ways of operating.
